Hike next to the imposing Riesachfall, the highest waterfall in Styria. Be captivated by the roaring deluge of water and the refreshing air as you make your way up well-secured walkways and stairs.
The path continues through a dense, ancient forest that offers welcome shade in summer. Enjoy the scents of spruce and fir trees, and listen to the chirping of birds. After about an hour, you will reach the 50-meter-long suspension footbridge that dramatically straddles the gorge.
After about one-and-a-half to two hours of walking, the valley opens up before you, revealing a view of the idyllic Riesachsee. This emerald-green mountain lake is nestled in a majestic setting of steep cliffs and lush forests.
Riding the comfortable summit lift, you will reach the Hochwurzen mountain station with ease, from where your unforgettable hiking adventure begins. Set out on the 2.3 km long “Bankerlweg,” impressing not only with its breathtaking mountain scenery, but also unique places to sit.
Along the picturesque pathway, as many as 20 original and extravagantly conceived “benches” invite you to take a break and enjoy the stunning views. Each of them is a small work of art – creatively designed and perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings.

Start your hiking adventure at the parking lot of the Planai cable car in Schladming. From here, take the comfortable Planai cable car, carrying you effortlessly to the mountain station at 1,830 meters above sea level. Even during the ride up, you will be able to enjoy the impressive views of the Enns River Valley and the surrounding mountain peaks.
Once at the mountain station, follow the clearly marked hiking trails in the direction of the Krahbergzinken. Your path first leads across gentle alpine meadows that teem with a sea of colorful alpine flowers in summer. Relish the clear mountain air and the panorama of the Schladming Tauern range as you tread step-by-step towards the summit.
After about two hours of walking, you will reach the Krahbergzinken (elev. 2,134 m). From the summit cross, a breathtaking panoramic view of the Schladming Tauern, the Dachstein massif, and the broad Enns Valley reveals itself before your eyes.
Begin your expedition at a parking area used by hikers, located at the Eschachalm in Rohrmoos. From here, follow the well-marked trail towards the Duisitzkarsee. The path leads you through a picturesque forest and next to a babbling brook with a refreshing atmosphere.
After a moderate ascent lasting about 1.5 to 2 hours, you will reach the idyllic Duisitzkarsee, a tarn nestled in an enchanting alpine setting. Enjoy the tranquility, take a well-deserved break, and allow the pristine nature to work its wonders upon you.
